In the up-and-down Mucugê Street, coming back from the beach during the day or at night, the mix of people and the rustic atmosphere in the tropical village sets the tone in Arraial d'Ajuda. Separated from Porto Seguro by the river Buranhém, Arraial was for many years only accessible by ferry crossings. Today however there is a paved road linking the town to the rest of the world. The Pitinga beach, furthest from the center, has bars and restaurants, but if you want absolute peace, the destination is Taipei, the most untouched beach in Arraial.
